How to calculate CBSE results percentage ?

CBSE provides a 9 point grading system as below for both classes X and XII. Check how to calculate CBSE results 2020 percentage below

81 - 90 A2 9.0
71 - 80 B1 8.0
61 - 70 B2 7.0
51 - 60 C1 6.0
41 - 50 C2 5.0
33 - 40 D 4.0
21 - 32 E1 (fail) C
00 - 20 E2 (fail) C

Grade and grade points are awarded to each subject. The average of all the grade points come up as CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average). Let’s see how CGPA and percentage calculated.

CGPA = Sum of grade points of 5 main subjects / 5.

Percentage, for individual subjects = Grade point of each subject X 9.5

Overall Percentage = CGPA X 9.5. For instance, if CGPA is 9, then overall percentage is 9 X 9.5 = 85.5

Note : This 9.5 is constant and CBSE has selected this based on the average grade point of toppers spanning the last 5 years.

However, only marks and grade for each subject is displayed in the mark sheets. Neither CGPA nor percentage are shown.
